Corazón de Mexico: Authentic Mexican Flavors Just 15 Minutes from Chattanooga

Published on
11 August 2024

Looking for a dining experience that combines authentic, homemade Mexican food with a fun and vibrant atmosphere? Corazón de Mexico in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, has become a viral sensation—and for good reason. Only a 15-minute drive from Chattanooga, this restaurant offers not just incredible meals but an experience worth talking about.

The first thing you’ll notice when you step inside is the beautiful decor, including a well-stocked bar and an eye-catching shelf filled with unique art and treasures brought directly from Mexico. These details set the tone for an authentic and welcoming dining experience.

When it comes to the food, come HUNGRY(!!!) There are many different amazing things you will want to try here. Start with their complimentary homemade chips and salsa—they’re perfectly crunchy and delicious. If you’re a queso lover, you have to try either the chorizo dip or the queso fundido; both are game-changers! For your main course, you can’t go wrong with the fan-favorite Birria Tacos. Each bite is packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. I also like their Exclusive Mix Tacos, Birria Ramen, and the Alpastor Exclusive tacos.

While you wait for your food, enjoy a game of lotería, a Mexican game similar to bingo, already at your table. Pair your meal with one of their handcrafted drinks, like the Strawberry Horchata Mojito or the vodka punch served in a whimsical fish-shaped glass (it’s discounted on Fridays!). With one of the largest tequila collections in the Chattanooga area, the cocktails here are as beautiful as they are delicious!

Corazón de Mexico has even been voted the "Best of the Best" in Georgia, a well-deserved accolade for a spot that puts so much heart into every detail. Pro tip: Check out their Instagram (@corazoncuisine) for updates on specials (and actually funny reels!).

📍 Location: 2681 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742

There's something truly AMAZING about finding a local gem that takes your mind far from the hustle and bustle of daily life, especially after a stressful week. Last weekend, I discovered exactly that at Chattanooga Head Spa—a sanctuary for serenity nestled at 1309 Panorama Dr. #115, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Whether you’re looking to spoil the special person in your life or simply indulge in a little self-pampering, this is the ultimate spot for relaxation. Trust me, spending a blissful afternoon here is like a mini-vacation!

The atmosphere exudes tranquility, with its soft lighting, calming music, and that oh-so-soothing scent that instantly melts away your stress. Their kind staff certainly know how to make you feel right at home. This video showcases my fourth visit, and at every visit I've had so far, I have met a different, AMAZING esthetician!

So, what can you expect during your visit? When you walk in, you're greeted with a short form and an array of complimentary snacks and drinks- because who doesn’t love a little treat while being pampered? The spa offers a variety of packages and specials to cater to your unique needs, and it’s worth keeping an eye on their Instagram for the latest and greatest offers. They are a sister spa with Last Loft and Brow bar where you can book facials, eyelash lifts, brow shaping, tinting and more! But my favorite is the head spa!

One of the standout features at Chattanooga Head Spa is their innovative scalp camera that you do before and after your head spa treatment, which shows you instant results from the service! Witnessing the transformation right before your eyes is just the cherry on top of an already stellar experience. Their massages, shampooing, and treatments are not only incredibly relaxing but also fantastic for your scalp health.

Where to Get Seasonal Treats in Chattanooga: The New Banana Pudding Flavor at Nothing Bundt Cakes

If you love small surprises and sweet treats, Nothing Bundt Cakes in Hixson (and its sister shops in Chattanooga and Cleveland) just might be your next dessert stop. This locally owned bakery chain rotates limited-time flavors throughout the year—and they’ve just dropped a new one that’s perfect for summer: Banana Pudding.

Whether you’re a longtime bundt cake fan or just looking for something dessert-sized and fun, this new flavor is a delicious excuse to stop by. And with samples, gluten-free offerings, and some great perks for regulars, there’s a little something for everyone.

The Experience

Nothing Bundt Cakes has a cozy, cheerful feeling the minute you walk in—think boutique bakery meets bright, happy gift shop. The Hixson location in particular has a warm and welcoming vibe, with friendly staff who know their stuff and are quick with a recommendation or sample. Yes, samples! They recently started offering them, so you can try the rotating flavors before committing (a very underrated perk).

This summer’s Banana Pudding flavor is a limited-time popup that keeps things balanced: soft banana notes, not too strong or artificial-tasting, all swirled together with their signature cream cheese frosting. It’s not overly rich or heavy, which makes it feel lighter and summer-appropriate. Even folks who don’t usually reach for banana desserts have found this one worth trying.

They’re rolling out Strawberry Cheesecake next—another summer option that’ll be worth checking out soon. You can get any flavor in sizes ranging from the bite-sized Bundtini to the single-serve Bundtlet or a full 10” cake, which makes it easy to grab a treat for yourself or order one for a celebration.
