Corazón de Mexico: Authentic Mexican Flavors Just 15 Minutes from Chattanooga

11 August 2024

Looking for a dining experience that combines authentic, homemade Mexican food with a fun and vibrant atmosphere? Corazón de Mexico in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, has become a viral sensation—and for good reason. Only a 15-minute drive from Chattanooga, this restaurant offers not just incredible meals but an experience worth talking about.

The first thing you’ll notice when you step inside is the beautiful decor, including a well-stocked bar and an eye-catching shelf filled with unique art and treasures brought directly from Mexico. These details set the tone for an authentic and welcoming dining experience.

When it comes to the food, come HUNGRY(!!!) There are many different amazing things you will want to try here. Start with their complimentary homemade chips and salsa—they’re perfectly crunchy and delicious. If you’re a queso lover, you have to try either the chorizo dip or the queso fundido; both are game-changers! For your main course, you can’t go wrong with the fan-favorite Birria Tacos. Each bite is packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. I also like their Exclusive Mix Tacos, Birria Ramen, and the Alpastor Exclusive tacos.

While you wait for your food, enjoy a game of lotería, a Mexican game similar to bingo, already at your table. Pair your meal with one of their handcrafted drinks, like the Strawberry Horchata Mojito or the vodka punch served in a whimsical fish-shaped glass (it’s discounted on Fridays!). With one of the largest tequila collections in the Chattanooga area, the cocktails here are as beautiful as they are delicious!

Corazón de Mexico has even been voted the "Best of the Best" in Georgia, a well-deserved accolade for a spot that puts so much heart into every detail. Pro tip: Check out their Instagram (@corazoncuisine) for updates on specials (and actually funny reels!).

📍 Location: 2681 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, GA 30742

Hungry yet? Make the short trip to Corazón de Mexico for your next meal out.

Looking for a charming spot that combines tea, tasty treats, and a meaningful mission? The Genesis House of Tea, located in the historic Dent House off Bonny Oaks, is one of Chattanooga's most BEAUTIFUL places for a girls' day out, bridal shower, baby shower, or engagement party in chattanooga. This tea house offers a Bridgerton-inspired experience with a side of Kentucky Derby flair, complete with fancy hats you can borrow for your visit!

When you arrive, you'll be greeted by a selection of hats to channel your inner duchess while enjoying the house’s cozy atmosphere. Start your tea experience with my favorite- their “Royal Wedding” tea- or one of their seasonal flavors (like Spiced Peach Apricot with popping boba, Pumpkin Chai, or Caramel Apple Crumble in the fall)! The tea menu is thoughtfully curated, with free refills so you can sip as much as you like!

The food is just as cute as the tea. Indulge in a tiered platter featuring sweet and savory items like buttery scones, delicate sandwiches, and flavorful quiches. These dishes are perfect for sharing and add an elegant touch to your outing. I LOVE THE SCONES! And I never thought I would be a scones girl… but these are GOOD!

Also worth noting, the Genesis House of Tea is more than just a beautiful brunch spot—it’s a place with purpose. Every purchase supports their mission to restore beauty, dignity, and identity to women in crisis through nonprofit partnerships. Upstairs, you’ll find a boutique where proceeds further these initiatives, making your visit not just a treat but an opportunity to give back.

Catch the Action at a Chattanooga FC Game: What to Expect at Finley Stadium

If you’re looking for an exciting way to spend a Saturday evening in Chattanooga, a Chattanooga Football Club (CFC) game should be high on your list. Held right at Finley Stadium—where the UTC Mocs Football team plays—the matches are a vibrant local experience where energy runs high, community pride is on full display, and there’s no bad seat in the house. Whether you’re a die-hard soccer fan or have never seen a game before and are just in it for the fun, food trucks, and festive crowd, CFC games offer a lively and affordable night out downtown.

The Experience:
Attending a CFC game is more than just watching soccer—it’s an experience that blends sport, community, and Chattanooga culture all in one. Gates typically open an hour before the match, giving you time to grab a drink, visit a few vendors (local beer and tasty snacks are a given), and soak in the pre-game excitement. You’ll find some fans decked out in blue and navy (or whatever the theme of the game is!), waving flags and chanting with the Chattahooligans—CFC’s passionate supporter group who bring serious energy to the stands.

Finley Stadium seats more than 20,000 and has a pretty great setup no matter where you sit. Families often lounge on the grassy area (where kids can run around!), while couples and friend groups gather near midfield for great views and atmosphere. The game-day vibe is upbeat but low-stress, drawing a mix of local families, soccer enthusiasts, first-timers, and even out-of-towners looking for something fun to do.

What to Know Before You Go:

- Game Times: Most home games are on Saturdays, typically starting at 7 PM. Gates open around 6 PM. Check their official schedule for the latest dates and times: chattanoogafc.com/schedule
- Location: Finley Stadium, 1826 Reggie White Blvd, Chattanooga, TN 37408
- Parking: There are multiple lots around the stadium that charge a small fee. FREE street parking may be available too. Carpooling or arriving early is best on busy game nights.
- Tickets: General admission tickets can be purchased online through Chattanooga FC’s website or at the gate (subject to availability).

Extra Tips or Bonuses:
Before the match, grab dinner or drinks nearby—Southside Social, State of Confusion, and OddStory Brewing Co. are all a short walk away and offer great pre-game stops. If you're heading to a themed night or rivalry matchup, look for promos, giveaways, or local vendor pop-ups happening on the concourse.

And if cheering with the Chattahooligans sounds like your style, don’t be shy—they love welcoming new fans. Their section is loud, fun, and full of team chants, so it’s a memorable way to experience the match.

Final Thoughts:
Whether you’re in town visiting or have lived here for years, catching a Chattanooga FC game is a fun and affordable way to connect with the heart of the city. It’s laid-back enough for families and exciting enough for a night out with friends. With great food, a scenic backdrop, and the camaraderie of local fans, it’s one of the best community events happening in town—no soccer expertise required.

What to Expect at Pure Barre Northshore — Chattanooga’s Low-Impact, High-Intensity Workout That Delivers Results

If you’ve ever brushed off barre as just a trendy workout with cute socks, Pure Barre Northshore might completely change your mind. This Northshore studio is a go-to for locals who want a workout that’s deceptively tough, wildly effective, and surprisingly welcoming — whether you’re a lifelong dancer or someone who just finished their first class clinging to the barre for dear life. After just a few sessions, you’ll start to feel stronger, more balanced, and probably a little sore (in the best way). I recently wrapped up their March Challenge and can honestly say I’m seeing big changes in both my strength and confidence.

The Experience:
Walking into Pure Barre Northshore feels like stepping into a boutique workout space that’s both polished and inviting. Tucked along Manufacturers Road, the studio is surrounded by some of Chattanooga’s favorites — and once you’re inside, the energy is equal parts focused and supportive.

Pure Barre offers four different class formats to mix up your workout week:

1. Classic – their signature class that zeroes in on small movements for max muscle burn
2. Empower – cardio-forward and fast-paced, using ankle weights and sometimes bands or a step platform
3. Define – incorporates heavier weights (8-20 lbs) (My favorite of the classes!)
4. Align – a slower-paced, flexibility class that helps you focus! (I still think there are many challenging parts to Align although many call it the easiest!)

Each class is grounded in low-impact, high-intensity movement. Expect to pulse, tuck, and hold in positions that will shake your muscles, and fire up muscles you forgot existed!! The instructors are upbeat, encouraging, and great at offering modifications — so whether you’re new or more experienced, you can adjust the class to your comfort level.

Another standout: the intentional focus on form. Instructors take time to cue alignment and help you get the most out of each move (don’t worry, no one’s judging if you’re taking constant breaks — we’ve all been there and I am still taking breaks constantly).

What to Know Before You Go:

Location:
Pure Barre Northshore
214 Manufacturers Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37405
(Located near Whole Foods area of Northshore)

Class Schedule:
Classes are offered throughout the day — early mornings, mid-day, and evenings — so it’s easy to fit one in whether you're squeezing in before work or winding down after.

Hours may vary depending on day and class volume. Check the current schedule and sign up online via the Pure Barre app or their website:
https://www.purebarre.com/location/chattanooga-north-shore-tn

Drop-In & Membership Options:
Pure Barre offers class packs, monthly unlimited memberships, and intro offers for new clients (first class is free!).

Parking:
Free parking available in the shared lot across the street or nearby around the Whole Foods area. Plan to arrive 15ish minutes before class starts because parking can sometimes be a nightmare during busy hours!

What to Bring:
Grip socks are required for class — you can bring your own or buy a pair at the studio. A water bottle is also a good idea. Everything else (weights, bands, mats) is provided.

Extra Tips or Bonuses:
Looking for a post-workout spot to refuel? Whole Foods is nearby! I often go over after class and pick up a smoothie or snack!

Holiday and seasonal challenges, like the March Challenge, are a great way to stay motivated. They often involve attending a certain number of classes in a month with fun prizes and community shoutouts at the finish line — perfect if you like that extra accountability.

If you’re not sure about jumping right in, try the "Engage" class — it’s specifically designed for first-timers and walks you through each movement at a slower pace.

Final Thoughts:
Pure Barre Northshore blends a powerful workout with a supportive community that makes you want to come back — even when your thighs are still sore from the last class. The format is structured enough to challenge regulars and flexible enough to welcome total beginners. If you’re looking for a workout that builds strength, improves posture, and gets results without being high-impact on your joints, it’s definitely one to try.

Whether you're a fitness regular, coming back after a break, or just exploring something new, you’ll probably be surprised by how effective and addicting it can feel.
