Cesario’s Pizzeria: A Family-Rooted Pizza Spot Just Minutes From Downtown Chattanooga

If you're willing to venture just 10 minutes south of downtown Chattanooga, you'll find Cesario’s Pizzeria- a welcoming neighborhood pizza joint with a strong family story and handcrafted menu that makes the drive across the Georgia border totally worth it. This spot blends traditional Italian family recipes with a modern twist, resulting in a menu that feels both comforting and new. Whether you're going for a laid-back lunch on the patio or a casual weeknight dinner, Cesario’s delivers in flavor, value, and charm.

The Experience

Cesario’s Pizzeria is located in Rossville, Georgia — just across the state line in Walker County. It’s a cozy, friendly space with indoor seating and a patio perfect for mild evenings. From the jump, you can tell this is a family-run business that puts care into everything they do. The décor is simple and inviting, keeping the focus on the food and the community feel.

The menu reflects generations of Italian-American cooking. The owners’ grandparents immigrated from Italy, and it shows — especially in dishes like the meatballs, which come from their great-grandmother’s original recipe. They're tender, flavorful, and simmered in a tomato sauce that tastes like it’s been perfected over time.

Pizza is the heart of the kitchen here, and Cesario’s has carved out their own unique style. One standout feature is their use of a "poolish" pre-ferment for the dough — a traditional technique that adds depth of flavor and a light, crisp texture to the crust. It makes their pies something special.

A fan favorite is the ability to do a half-and-half red sauce pizza — perfect for trying more of the menu in one go. The Forbidden Fruit (prosciutto, fig jam, gorgonzola) and La Dolce Vita (Italian sausage, sweet peppers, caramelized onion, and ricotta) combination is a strong recommendation from locals and first-timers alike.

If you’re stopping by for lunch, try their weekday special: a half Italian sandwich and tortellini salad for just $8. It’s a filling, tasty option if you're short on time but still want a solid meal.

They also have a small bar area with wine and rotating happy hour deals, plus classic soft-serve ice cream to round out the meal.

If you’re looking to make the most of August in Chattanooga, you’re in luck — this month is packed with festivals, outdoor movies, vintage markets, and local traditions that bring out the best of summer in the Scenic City. Whether you're up for a beach movie night, catching a soccer match at Finley, or taking a weekend stroll at a roadside yard sale spanning six states (yes, really!), there’s something happening for every type of adventurer.

Here’s a breakdown of this month’s standout events and some helpful info to plan your weekends with ease.

The Experience

We’re heading into the last full month of summer, and Chattanooga doesn’t disappoint. From kid-friendly festivals to 21+ aquarium takeovers, August events strike the right balance of fun for families, couples, and solo explorers alike.

Start off strong with a beach screening of Sharknado at Chester Frost Park (Aug 2), a beach movie night where you can bring your towel or lawn chair and enjoy the chaos of flying sharks under the stars.

Then there’s the mega-popular Statemint Market (Aug 6–9) at The Signal — ideal for back-to-school shopping or finding something quirky and handmade from dozens of trendy, curated vendors.

Not into shopping? No worries. Vintage lovers should mark down Aug 16 for the city’s biggest vintage market at Finley Stadium. From retro band tees to old-school records and one-of-a-kind clothing pieces, it’s a treasure hunter’s dream.

You’ll also find multiple themed events at the Chattanooga Zoo this month — including a Pirates, Parrots, and Princesses Day on Aug 9 that’s perfect for younger kids and costume lovers.

And let’s not forget the legendary 127 Yard Sale (Aug 7–10), which runs right through Signal Mountain. Locals set up along the route with tables, tents, and truly everything from antiques to knick-knacks. If you love the thrill of a great find, this one’s for you.

To close it out, there’s Nooga Wing and Beer Week (Aug 25–31), packed with participating restaurants, drink deals, and — you guessed it — wings.

127 Yard Sale Like a Local: Route Tips, Pit Stops, and What to Bring This Weekend

The 127 Yard Sale is officially underway, and if you’ve never checked it out, now’s the time. Spanning six states from Michigan to Alabama, this event is the world’s longest yard sale — and parts of it run right through our own backyard. I spent the first day exploring local spots like Picker’s Field and Hot Dog Landing in Signal Mountain, plus a stop at Vinterest Southside downtown. Bring cash, water, sturdy bags (you might even want a wagon), and get ready to negotiate — you’ll find everything from quirky collectibles to vintage furniture. I even scored a Chattanooga Wreckers hat I didn’t know I needed. Planning to head to the Pikeville and Dunlap areas this weekend for more hidden gems.

Your Guide to the 127 Yard Sale near Chattanooga: What to Expect, Where to Go, and How to Make the Most of It

Every August, something truly one-of-a-kind happens along Highway 127: the World’s Longest Yard Sale. Stretching over 690 miles through six states (from Michigan to Alabama), this wildly fun and often wonderfully random event is a dream come true for bargain hunters, collectors, and weekend treasure seekers. And the best part? Chattanooga is perfectly positioned along the route—especially if you’re ready to explore Signal Mountain, Lookout Mountain, and even a few curated spots downtown.

Whether you’re in it for quirky finds, vintage furniture, local food trucks, or just the thrill of the hunt, the 127 Yard Sale is definitely worth a spot on your August calendar.

The Experience

The 127 Yard Sale isn’t your average yard sale—and if you’ve never been, imagine hundreds (if not thousands) of booths, tents, and makeshift markets set up along the highway, in fields, driveways, parking lots, and anywhere with enough space for a few folding tables. The vibe is a mix of flea market, roadside fair, and old-school swap meet.

Around our area near Chattanooga, you’ll find some of the best action on Signal Mountain and Lookout Mountain, with curated vendor fields set up just off the highway. We started at Picker’s Field (614 US-127 in Signal Mountain), which had a friendly mix of antique dealers and locals purging their attics. It’s a good spot to walk through if you want a concentration of options without having to stop at every roadside tent.

Then there’s Hot Dog Landing (4702 Taft Hwy), which offers more than just food—though the grab-and-go snacks are an added bonus on a hot August day. You’ll see everything from rusty tools and retro signage to vintage Pyrex and old vinyl records. Pro tip: dig a little. The best items aren’t always front and center.

You can also sneak in a stop at Vinterest Southside (121 Chestnut Street) downtown—one of the permanent vintage markets participating in the event. While it’s open year-round, it usually steps up with special vendors and expanded hours during yard sale weekend.

You’ll also want to leave plenty of time for the in-between spots—those pop-up sales you’ll pass while driving along 127. Some of the best deals are at these “unmapped” stops where you can pull off and explore at your own pace.

What to Know Before You Go

Dates: The 127 Yard Sale typically runs Thursday through Sunday in early August. For this year, it’s August 7–10.

Hours: There aren’t official start or end times, but most vendors operate during daylight hours—roughly 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Website: Full maps, vendor zones, and planning resources are available at www.127yardsale.com.

Locations near Chattanooga:
- Picker’s Field: 614 US-127, Signal Mountain, TN
- Hot Dog Landing: 4702 Taft Hwy, Signal Mountain, TN
- Vinterest Southside: 121 Chestnut St, Chattanooga, TN
- Roadside stops along 127 between Signal Mountain and Dunlap

Parking: Most sites have field or roadside parking. Bring cash—some charge a small fee or donation. Carpooling is a great move, especially in tight or hilly areas.

Payment: Cash is king. Many vendors will negotiate, but most don’t have card readers. Some larger setups accept Venmo or PayPal, but it’s not guaranteed.

Accessibility: Terrain can be uneven in grassy fields, so wear sturdy shoes and pack light.

Extra Tips or Bonuses

- Bring your own bags, totes, or even a small wagon if you’re aiming to buy larger items. (Don’t laugh—we saw someone load up a hand truck with vintage speakers.)
- Stay hydrated. It’s August in the South, and temperatures can climb quickly. Bring water or refill bottles at vendor tents when available.
- If you’re looking for furniture or collector’s pieces, try heading out early in the day or hitting up the Pikeville and Dunlap areas—vendors there often bring in higher-end finds and have more space.
- There’s plenty of food along the way—from lemonade stands to pop-up BBQ grills—but you can also pack a cooler and picnic in the shade if you want to keep moving without long breaks.
- Make it a weekend. If you're traveling from out of town or want to cover more ground, consider booking a cabin on Signal Mountain or staying downtown in Chattanooga and making day trips out to different sections of the sale.

Final Thoughts

The 127 Yard Sale is one of those events that truly feels like it belongs to the region—messy in the best way, full of character, and made for exploring. Whether you’re just browsing or going in with a shopping list, you’ll leave with at least one story (and probably a few unexpected trinkets).

It’s also a fun outing for couples, families with older kids, road trip buddies, or anyone with a love of vintage and a bit of patience. Just remember to pace yourself—this thing stretches hundreds of miles, but the joy is in the hunt, not the mileage.

Together Cafe: One of Chattanooga’s Best Kept Coffee Shop Secrets

If you've never been to The Together Cafe in Highland Park, consider this your nudge. It’s one of those low-key spots that locals keep coming back to—and I’ve personally been a regular for years. Between the cozy, colorful upstairs lounge (perfect for working or meeting up with a friend), the family-friendly vibe (yes, there’s a kids’ nook!), and the creative seasonal drinks—this place really covers all the bases. My go-to latte is usually the cereal milk, but their current Summer in Dubai flavor with espresso, Nutella, pistachio syrup, and strawberry cold foam? Game changer. They're also doing these fruity popping boba refreshers that are extra refreshing during the warmer months. What makes it even better: they’re mission-driven, playing calm Christian music and supporting nonprofits that assist survivors of human trafficking. Warm-hearted people, excellent coffee, free parking—this spot really feels like a community.

The Together Cafe: A Cozy Chattanooga Coffee Shop With Heart

Tucked into the Highland Park neighborhood, The Together Cafe is one of those rare spots that’s equally cozy, community-focused, and genuinely delicious. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to work, meet a friend, or sip on something creative, this locally loved coffee shop delivers in all the right ways — and it’s doing good behind the scenes, too.

This one’s a true hidden gem, just east of downtown Chattanooga, and it’s the kind of place you’ll find yourself returning to again and again (especially once you try the cereal milk latte). Here’s everything you need to know if you’re thinking about stopping by.

The Experience

From the outside, The Together Cafe looks humble, but inside you'll find a warm, inviting space that clearly prioritizes comfort and connection. There’s a mix of seating — cozy couches upstairs, window perches downstairs, and a separate side room that adds extra space, complete with a small kids’ play area. It’s clear they’ve thought about families, remote workers, and anyone who just wants a peaceful break in their day.

The menu is creative and fun, with espresso drinks that go well beyond the usual. A longtime favorite is the cereal milk latte (yes, it tastes like the end of a bowl of your favorite childhood cereal), but don’t miss their seasonal creations. This summer, it’s the “Summer in Dubai” latte — a unique blend of Nutella and pistachio syrup with strawberry cold foam and flaky kataifi on top. It’s indulgent, refreshing, and unlike anything you’ll find at a chain coffee shop.

For non-coffee drinkers or hotter days, The Together Cafe also serves up bubble tea-style refreshers with rotating popping boba flavors. Watermelon seems to be a standout right now if you want something fruity and fresh.
